Douglas F. Hoffman, of counsel, brings nearly 20 years of experience to the Kopelowitz Ostrow law firm in the highly specialized areas of probate, trust and guardianship administration and litigation; estate planning; and real estate. Mr. Hoffman’s extensive experience and reputation for expertly handling complex probate, estate and trust matters have earned him numerous judicial appointments. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While a student at UF he was also a member of the prestigious Florida Blue Key. Mr. Hoffman is a member of the Florida Bar, Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section, for which he served on the Probate Rules Committee; the Broward County Bar, Elder Law and Probate divisions; and current member and former board member of the Broward County Estate Planning Council. His professionalism and knowledge of the law has earned him the respect of his peers and colleagues, as well as the 2011 Super Lawyer designation, and a 5.0 AV “Preeminent” rating. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Hoffman has served as an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center, where for 10 years he has prepared second- and third-year law students to apply the Florida rules of civil procedure in pre-trial practices, a hands-on course with meaningful, true-to-life relevance. He also lends his support to the Community Foundation of Broward as a member of its Professional Advisors Council, and is a founding member and continues to serve on the steering committee for its annual Joint Tax & Estate Planning Seminar. |
