Catherine Ferguson is a partner with the firm and her practice encompasses intellectual property matters, including representing domestic and international companies in the procurement, enforcement and defense of their intellectual property rights. Ms. Ferguson counsels clients in trademark clearance opinions and searches and U.S. federal and international trademark and copyright application prosecution. Ms. Ferguson monitors her clients trademark rights to confirm proper usage and identify potential infringement issues both domestically and internationally. She also works routinely with foreign associates in registering, enforcing and defending her clients’ trademark rights internationally. Ms. Ferguson has extensive experience assisting clients in negotiating and drafting intellectual property licenses, assignments, and coexistence agreements. Ms. Ferguson also represents clients of all sizes in federal and state litigation, and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board administrative proceedings, for claims of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, unfair competition, trademark dilution, domain name infringement, cyber squatting, and U.S. Trademark Office ex parte appeals and inter parte proceedings. Ms. Ferguson was born in Miami, Florida. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Florida International University in Miami, Florida in 1994, and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in Concord, New Hampshire in 1998. Ms. Ferguson interned and worked at the United States Trademark Office. She is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Southern and Middle District Courts of Florida. Ms. Ferguson is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Association, Broward County Bar Association, and Broward County Women Lawyers’Association. |
