Bart A. Houston concentrates his practice on complex commercial matters, including out of court restructuring and workouts, commercial litigation in state and federal courts and Chapter 11 reorganization cases. For the first 18 years of his practice, Mr. Houston exclusively represented Debtors in Chapter 11 reorganization cases and in complex Chapter 7 cases. Over the last several years, Mr. Houston’s practice has expanded to include more complex insolvency related litigation in bankruptcy cases in contested and adversary matters on behalf of debtors, creditors’ committees, and trustees; purchasers of assets and other interested parties; and fraudulent transfer and preference litigation; and in commercial litigation cases in federal and state court with a concentration on real estate and structured finance disputes. Mr. Houston is “AV” rated by Martindale Hubbell. Mr. Houston is a member of the Florida and Georgia State Bars and is admitted to practice before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Middle District and Southern Districts of Florida. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Walter F. George (Mercer University) School of Law in 1986 and a Bachelors degree in Political Science and English from Mercer University in 1983.
